Buy a new HDD before you leave, then truecrypt hidden partition it.
The problem is they have the authority to crack encryption. No the best thing is to use remote storage and access it over an encrypted connection. This is probably what the people we wish to stop are doing anyways. So this whole exercise is pointless. I fear our government far more than I fear the "terrorist". How do you wage a war against a tactic, anyways?
